After working in clinical group practices in New York City and Milford, MA, Dr. Vladyslava Doktor saw an opportunity to open her own dermatology center in Brookline. A graduate Boston University and the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in New York, Dr. Doktor treats patients with skin cancer, rosacea and acne and hair loss. Her practice also covers cosmetic medicine.

Dr. Doktor selected a street-level space in a 19th century brick building most recently used by a specialty food retailer and engaged Wellen to build out her vision. We recommended an architect for the project to craft the design, knowing that preserving the historic character of the space, while creating a fully modern clinic would yield a stunning result.

We took special care to restore many original elements, including sanding and refinishing the hardwood floors throughout, restoring the original front doors, integrating several structural columns into the design, even transforming an old steam radiator into an accent piece for the lobby. Exposed brick walls and HVAC duct work add to the contemporary yet classic esthetic.

The new clinic covers 2,800 square-feet, with a spacious reception and waiting area, seven exam rooms, a nurses’ alcove, lab and staff offices. The project began in July 2020 and was completed in December 2020.
